Chattogram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital stands as a symbol of compassion, dedication, and community-driven healthcare. The journey began in 1979 with the establishment of Chattogram Shishu Hospital, born from a humble yet visionary initiative led by a group of committed social workers in Chittagong.

With permission from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the hospital started its operations in an unfinished and dilapidated government building in Agrabad. In its early days, services were limited to a small outpatient department, supported by one part-time honorary medical officer on deputation from Chittagong Medical College and three honorary pediatric consultants. Despite limited resources, the hospital steadily grew through the sincere efforts and support of people from all walks of life.

Over time, the two-storied building was handed over to the organization in phases, each floor covering approximately 91,000 square feet. By 1988, the Shishu Hospital was fully completed. In 1994, maternity services were introduced with a capacity of 150 beds, marking a significant milestone. With this expansion, the institution was renamed Chattogram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital, reflecting its commitment to both maternal and child healthcare.

Today, the hospital has evolved into a 650-bedded multi-disciplinary healthcare institution, offering comprehensive medical services. Core specialties include Pediatrics Medicine, Neonatology, Pediatric Surgery, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Medicine, and various sub-specialties. Outpatient services extend across consultancy, pharmacy, family planning, maternal care, Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), physical medicine, and complete pediatric care.

In addition, the hospital provides specialized services in Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Dermatology, Psychiatry, and adult medicine. A highly specialized Child Development Clinic caters to children and adults with developmental delays and disabilities. The hospital’s outpatient department serves an average of 1,000 to 1,500 patients daily, and Emergency Medical Unit (AMU) services are fully operational to ensure round-the-clock critical care.

Chattogram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital is further supported by a modern Radiology Department equipped with comprehensive X-ray facilities and advanced Ultrasonography services (2D & 3D with Color Doppler). The Clinical Pathology Department is well-equipped with facilities for Hematology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology, ensuring accurate and timely diagnostics. A dedicated Blood Transfusion Center operates 24/7 to meet emergency and routine transfusion needs.
